My account passkey: where to find and manage your passkeys
SHORT ANSWER
Where do I find my account passkey?
There are two places. The site holds the public side, listed under its security or sign-in settings. Your passkey provider holds the private key, listed in its own app or in system settings. To remove a passkey fully, delete it in both.
Key takeaways
- A passkey has a site side and a provider side. Manage both.
- Google lists passkeys under Security and sign-in, then Passkeys.
- Removing it at the site stops it working. Removing it from the provider frees the stored key.
- In HostSpica Identity, passkeys are in the Passkey tab and can be deleted there.
Disclosure: HostSpica makes HostSpica Identity, an Android app that is also a passkey provider. Facts about other services come from their own help pages, checked on 4 October 2026, and can change.
Two sides of a passkey
| Side | What it holds | Where to manage it |
|---|---|---|
| Site or app | Your public key and the passkey's name | Account security or sign-in settings |
| Provider on your device | The private key | The provider app or system settings |
Where to look
- Google: your Google Account, Security and sign-in, then Passkeys. Google's help gives myaccount.google.com/signinoptions/passkeys.
- Amazon: Your Account, then Login and security, per Amazon's help.
- Your phone: the passkey provider you chose, or Settings, then the passwords and passkeys area. Names differ by phone.
In HostSpica Identity
Open the Passkey tab to see each passkey, its site and when it was made. Delete one there to remove the private key from the phone. Then also remove it on the site so it no longer shows as a sign-in method. HostSpica Identity needs Android 14 or newer for passkeys. Its Google Play release is in the final steps as of 4 October 2026, so check the app page for the live link.
Replace or remove a passkey
- Sign in another way, or with the passkey.
- On the site, add a new passkey first.
- Remove the old one from the site list.
- Delete the old private key from the provider.
- Sign out and sign in with the new one.
Frequently asked questions
How do I delete a passkey from my Google Account?
Open Passkeys under Security and sign-in in your Google Account and remove it there. Also delete it from the provider that holds it.
Does deleting the passkey on my phone remove it from the site?
No. The site still lists it until you remove it in the account settings.
Can I rename a passkey?
Some sites and providers allow it. Check the account's passkey list.
What happens to my passkeys if I reset the phone?
Device-only passkeys are lost. Synced ones return with the account. See what to do if you lose your phone.
